Dr. Alejandro Remigio Rodríguez is the Chief of Urology and Urology Oncology – Director of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, New York. He is American Board of Urology certified, and is the present Treasurer of the Confederación Americana de Urología (CAU).
He worked as an Assistant Professor of Urology, Director for Robotics and Laparoscopic Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, in Tampa, Florida from 2011-2012. He is Fellowship trained in Urology Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, and Fellowship trained in Urology Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery in Rennes - France. He completed Urology training and Chief Residency in the Department of Urology of the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, in Tampa, Florida.
He is an active member of multiple societies such as the AUA, SIU, CAU, EAU, SUO, Endourological Society, Society of Robotic Surgeons, SLS, GURS, and Sociedad Peruana de Urología. He is honorary member of the Sociedad Argentina de Urología.
Prior to his career in the USA and France, he worked as a Urologist in Lima-Peru, after having completed a Urology Residency at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, back in 1998. He obtained his medical doctor degree in 1993 from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico, having graduated at top of his class.
Dr. Rodríguez has published over 200 peer review manuscripts and abstracts. He has participated as invited speaker in multiple national and international meetings. His passion is innovation in minimally invasive surgical approaches (Robotics, Laparoscopy, Single Port) for malignant and benign diseases in urology. Among some honors and awards that he has received, are the following: Murphy Scholar Award in Prostate diseases in 2006, 2008, and 2009; SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic surgeon award in 2009, 2010 and 2011; America’s Top Surgeon Award – Urology in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, given by the Consumers’ Research Council of America; “Distinguished visitor” of Santa Cruz, Bolivia in 2017; “Humberto Villavicencio Medal” in 2017, highest urology award given by the Sociedad Boliviana de Urología; and Top Doctors Award – Urology in 2017 – given by Castle Connolly Medical LTD.
